Confirm rooms before promising savings
A family room may work, but occupancy limits differ. We check family rooms, extra beds, and connecting-room options against real availability.
Children receive a real SDF concession, but hotels and other services do not simply become half price. Start with the estimate below, then let us check room configurations and shape a pace that works for your family.
This is a private trip for your family, not a join-in group. Share your children's ages, the walks they enjoy and how often you want to change hotels. We can plan shorter days and rest stops, while keeping driving distances and confirmed bookings in mind.
You can book your own approved accommodation and ask us for a local guide, with transport if needed. Or ask us to arrange more of the trip. Room configurations and availability are checked before you commit, and your itemised quote sets out what each of us will handle.
For a 7-day, 6-night trip, treating a family of four as four adults would produce $2,400 in SDF. With two adults and two children aged 10, the correct SDF is $1,800, a saving of $600.
The one-time visa total remains $160for four travellers. The package table uses today's prices to show how child pricing affects the estimate. Your written quote confirms the final total for your dates and rooms.

|---|---|---|
| SDF | $2,400 | $1,800 |
| Visa | $160 | $160 |
| Package per night | $1,160 | $980 |

Long road days, altitude, and early starts matter more than fitting every sight in. Fewer hotel changes usually create a better family trip.
Short walks, farms, craft visits, archery, and flexible afternoons give children something tangible between monasteries and longer drives.

Sometimes, but it depends on the hotel, room size, bed configuration, and the children's ages. We check suitable family rooms, triples with an extra bed, or connecting rooms rather than promising one room before availability is confirmed.
Active older children often complete it, but the climb is steep and altitude affects everyone differently. A family itinerary should keep the day flexible, start early, include rest stops, and allow a shorter alternative if needed.
Seven to ten days works well for many families. It gives time for Paro, Thimphu, and Punakha without changing hotels every night, while leaving space for slower mornings, short walks, and weather or altitude adjustments.
Tell us the children's ages and your dates. We'll send a clear, itemised family quote within 24 hours, with no payment required.
